Trying to share files

basically, what i want to do is have one computer with 2-4 harddrives, to store movies (legally) and pictures, and I want to be able to access/ store them on there through my laptop. now, i know i can simple network them together, but my computer and my laptop are 10 miles apart. So how can i make it so i can remotely access and change my hard drives on my computer from my laptop. I an open to any ideas, ive tried making one be a server, but i sucked at that, lol. both have high speed internet connections.

Re: Trying to share files

Well, unless you have pretty speed upload speeds on your ISP connection, the performance will suck.

Clearly, if you want to have file sharing remotely, you need to be looking at a VPN between the sites.
