[SOLVED] Data Transfer
I recently purchased a dell laptop, Vostro. I have an emachines desktop that i need to take files from, and transfer them to my laptop. I have entirely too much info to put on a memory stick. I have a network cable and a USB to USB (A-A). I tried using the file and settings transfer. When I used it it asks if i want to create a wizard disk, i say no. and move on to searching for the correct ort, i get my desktop to the same position so that both computers are searching for each other, and to no avail. I have tried with both usb-usb and net. cable, i dont know if there is an easier way, or if i need to make a wizard disk? please help asap, i am leaving to go to costa rica to teach and i need to take my files with me. thanks!

Re: Data Transfer
If both machines have a network card, all you need is a CAT5 crossover cable.

Re: Data Transfer
thanks alot for your help, turns out i am NOT stupid. LOL I went down stairs after posting this thread and figured it out. I thought that i should be able to direct connect through usb and just transfer, that didnt work for me. So i used my Lan cable, created a network between computers and just shared all my contents. so, all is great, thanks again for your prompt response.
