Remote connecting from laptop to PC?
Hello everyone,
I have a Dell PC (w/ Vista Ultimate) which is pretty new and powerful in terms of hardware. I also have an IBM ThinkPad Laptop with XP on it it, which runs fine since I take care of it but can't handle a lot of tasks that my PC can. My PC is upstairs and both the PC and laptop are connected to the same wireless network. Is there some kind of freeware software or method out there that would allow me to connect to my PC from my laptop anytime I wanted to by running the program and entering a password. I'd like to be able to do this without having to do anything on the PC end (except setting it up and making sure everything is secure). I tried the Remote Assitance built into Windows, but I'd like something more automatic. Any recommendations? Zach |

Re: Remote connecting from laptop to PC?
I think that's about as "automatic" as it's going to get.

Re: Remote connecting from laptop to PC?
In case anyone cares, I ended up finding the freeware website:
http://www.uvnc.com/ and installed that on both computers to achieve my original goal. |

Re: Remote connecting from laptop to PC?
I was thinking of Remote Desktop not Remote Assistance. FWIW, I use UltraVNC here.

Re: Remote connecting from laptop to PC?
remote desktop which i am trying to figure out so if anyone knowns how to work it please respond to my thread
and you can use http://www.logmein.com If gives you choices of the ones you want to use becuase there are like different types. The one that is free is probably all you need. But if you get remote desktop to work use that instead it's better. But what i gave you is still good. Last edited by lilman4evur; 01-10-2008 at 07:53 PM. |
