my network places shown on other computer

hello, all I created a work group on 2 of my computer in able to share files, after that i shared a folder and gave a name to it and it had a hand sign under the folder. it was working fine and i thought no one could see that folder. ok now my friend bought his laptop to my house and he got connected to my router but his work group was different than mine when he hits the my network places on his laptop he saw my shared folder on his laptop how can i make that folder safe or need an access password to my compter to make it more secure, also my computer require a log in password on a startup.

thanks for the reply what if i change my xp home to xp pro edition and what to do next after i change my computer to xp pro and how do i setup the share folder private and create them in a work group.
