Network Sharing Help
So I'm trying to set up some network settings and I need some help. What Im trying to do specifically is only allow certain computers access to certain files. My problem is when I go to Permissions on the sharing tab of a folder and go to add, I can only add users from the computer I am currently on and no other Computers appear in Location. Everything works fine for sharing from the computer I am on so if I can figure out how to get other comps in the Location area I should be good, does anyone know how to do that?

Re: Network Sharing Help
Hi and Welcome,
First off, what type of network are we talking about? Peer to peer? Client/server?

Re: Network Sharing Help
Well, I don't really have experince doing this without a server, but let me see what I can find out until this catches the eye of someone experienced in this area.

Re: Network Sharing Help
OK, do you have a workgroup setup, or just the standard home setup? Here are two links I've found so far that might have something. I will keep looking while you are enjoying this reading pleasure.

Re: Network Sharing Help
Thanks, the second link there seems to have a good chunk of info. It seems like what I might have to do is create the same logins on each computer and then give the logins on each computer access to the speicific files so when you try to access from one of those logins it works correcty. Not exactly ideal as not all the computers need pw protection (only 1 does actually) but if I don't give them all pw protection then the one that needs it will be able to log on and get any of the info.
