skype - is it ok?

hi all,
I am communicating with someone abroad and it (I guess having never used these) would be more convenient if I had Skype or Yahoo Messenger or some such. Are these things legit/supported at this forum? Also which is safest? I run Kaspersky, Spybot/Teatimer, SpywareBlaster, Adaware.

Thanks.

I use Skype and Google Talk they're both legit and work fantastic.

Re: skype - is it ok?

I prefer Skype - with a SkypeOut account you call landlines in most countries at very low call rates. I also have SkypeIn so people that don't have Skype can call me (I don't have a landline).
