Computer Name and IP address issue
I have two PC both running XP. The first one is connected to my Linksys WRT54G router with a CAT-5 . The second is running on the wireless. They both have the same workgroup name and I have disabled the firewall for testing. The problem is that I can't access the shared files by going thru My Network Places. If I try it says I dont have the correct permissions. However I can access the PC by IP address. If I do run and type \\IP_Address I can access files from either PC. Therefore I know I am connected with the correct permissions. Not that it is a huge deal since I can get what I need. Just wondered if anyone knew what the issue might be. I also seen several other people posting similar issues and thought it might help them.
