Need Help With Wireless File Sharing.

Hey Guys

I've got 3 computers which i want to put on a network and be able to share files over wireless.
I've got two laptops and one pc, The PC & One of laptops has XP Pro running and The other laptop has Xp Home running on it.

I've made sure that every computer has the same workgroup name ,atfer i did that i came back to my laptop and went into my network places, in there was both computers, there not always in there they do appear and disappear which i dont know why that is. but when they are there if i click onto any of the computer's i get a error message which was as follow's
`computer1 is not accessible. you might not have permission. contact your administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. network path was not found.

I really dont understand how this works? I need some help on how to set up the network proberly so i can just access any computer at any time and use the files on that computer.

Any Ideas? Please anything you have to shine light on the subject would be great.

Cheers guys.

Re: Need Help With Wireless File Sharing.

Let's start with the basics.

Turn off any firewalls for debugging. If the firewall is the problem, you'll have to configure it to allow access to "trusted zone" addresses. Note that some firewalls must be completely uninstalled to stop them from affecting your networking.

PING each computer by IP address, and if successful, PING by name. You can obtain the IP address of a computer by opening a command prompt (DOS window) and typing IPCONFIG. This should work for any Windows version. A failure here needs to be corrected before you go any farther.

All computers should be in the same workgroup for computer browsing to function properly. File & Print Sharing has to be enabled on any computer you wish to share files or printers from. You also need to actually share the resource in question from My Computer, right click on the drive/printer/folder, and select sharing.

If you encounter difficulties accessing computers that are visible in Network Neighborhood, make sure the computer being accessed has an account with the same name/password as the system connecting to it uses to login.

While the default NetBIOS setting is correct for normal network configurations, it's possible for it to be altered, and it costs nothing to make sure it's correct. NETBIOS over TCP/IP must be enabled for normal network browsing.

How do i Turn off any firewalls for debugging, And whats debugging, and also how do configure my firewall to allow access to "trusted zone" addresses.

As i never did this before what is Pinging, Well what does it do?

Also Im not sure what NETBIOS over TCP/IP is eithier.

I Have enabled sharing on one of my folders on my laptop and i have made sure that every computer has the same user account & Password on it.

Sorry to be a pain!!

Try this link, it's probably clearer than trying to do this blow by blow. A Good Basic File Sharing Tutorial
