File sharing on wireless network
My roomate and i are trying to sync files on our computers for school and we cannot seem to access one another. I used thefile sharing wizard built into xp on both computers and still ahve no access. When i go to My network places and then to workgroup computers, it shows his computer but when i click on it, a box comes up and tells me "This computer is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. The network path was not found." And on his computer it does not even show my computer when i go to workgroup computers. Is there a step i might have missed that would prevent his computer from recognizing mine and keep mine from accessing his?

1.you should be in the same work group (right click my computer go to properties then computer name and make sure they are the same besides the computer name of course)
2.you need to make sure that the folders are shared and open so that no restrictions apply 3.if all fails you could try to host an FTP server on one of the computers and just access it via an FTP client and so forth. usually this is all caused due to bad shares and not the same domain/workgroup

Is this a university network? If so, then they most likely have Windows Network disabled, guaranteed- and rightly so: it is a huge security risk.
If you want to share files, I would recommend fr4665's suggestion of setting up an FTP server/client, and make sure you secure it properly- I would suggest setting up SSH FTP (SFTP) or FTPS (FTP over SSL) to avoid having the password sniffed by other users of the campus network.
