Confused download media

Hi wondered if you could help. I tried to download a movie, which i done successfully, and i can also view it on my pc, but having problems once burnt it to disc, it wont play on my panasonic dvd player, I have used +r and -R disc, i assumed it could be the type of media, it was avi, so i transfered it to mpeg, still no good, then i tran sfered it to mpeg2 no help, then to dvd, no good, my dvd player says it doesnt play this sort of disc ?

My question is if i am downloading a movie what type of media should it be in ?
there seems to be so many, I need a media that i can search for that will play on the basic player.

My System

I'm sorry but we can not support issues with illegitimate P2P (such as downloading movies).
