File Share between 3 computers
Hello,
I have three computers, and need help reconfiguring them. The first is a brand new Lenovo 3000 N100 Laptop running XP, with a 2GB processor, 1024MB ram and a 100GB Hard Drive. The second is a Dell 4500S running XP. The third is a Dell L866R running ME. This computer does not have an ethernet port, but it does have 2 USB 1.1 ports. It also only has 64MB of ram. I want to move all the files (and a few small gaming progams like Mahjong) from the 4500S to the N100. I then want to move all the files from the L866R to the 4500S. The files include standard documents (I'm a student), Windows Media Player Database (200+- Songs), IPOD database (200+- Songs) and Kodak Pictures (1000+- Pictures). If I have to reinstall the programs by CD, I will. I am most concerned with the files. What is the best way to transfer the files (at least the data files, pictures and music) from the 4500S to the N100 and from the L866R to the 4500S? I would like to avoid purchasing an external hard drive if I can. Should I purchase a data migration kit, or is the USB-USB bridged transfer cable enough? Is it reasonable to transfer all the data using email? (We have dialup - no broadband available). Or is my only option to purchase an external hard drive? Thanks for any responses that can help me out. I will check back to answer any additional details that are needed. |

I'd consider removing the hard disk from one or both of the units and installing it temporarily in a USB external case. This will only set you back about $25 or so, and will solve the problem for both computers. Here's a whole list of them to choose from: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ice=&maxPrice=
