permission
I have just created a small network with 3 pc's all running win xp. Two of them are working fine and can share files. The third however is causing problems. It is able to view the other two computers but the other pc's cant see it. When I browse for the third from another computer I can see the workgroup name. It even shows the third computer, however when clicking on it it gives me a permission error. I have windows firewall turned off, and I allowed sharing on it. I have a feeling it has to do with norton since the third is the only one that has it, but disabling norton has no effect. Any clues?
thanks rill |

How about the exact error you receive?

A couple of things to try.
1. Edit or add the registry key: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\RestrictAnonymous = 0 2. Uninstall file/print sharing on the target computer, then enable it again and setup the shares again. Sometimes this will solve this particular error indication.

Hey,
I have the same problem as rill. However I was unable to find or add the registry key. Can someone point me in the right direction as to how to do this. I tried to run regedit "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\Restrict Anonymous = 0" but I get the error message: Cannot import HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\Restrict Anonymous = 0: Error opening the file. There may be a disk or file system error. Hopefully Im just overlooking something easy. Thanks |

Create a file in notepad named FIXANON.REG with the following contents:
------------------- cut after this line ------------------- Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa] "restrictanonymous"=dword:00000000 ------------------- cut before this line ----------------- Double click on the file and say Yes to the merge into registry question.
