Workgroup Problem
Hi everyone I would like to thank anyone who could help me with this problem in advance...
Ok I tried to set up a small network so i would share my printer and also share files from my desktop to my laptop. I am running Windows XP home on both machines. My router is a Westell Modem with the wireless built in. My desktop is wired to the modem but my Laptop is connected wirelessly. I ran the setup network wizard on both machines and added both machines to the MsHome workgroup. When i go into My Network places on my desktop i could see my laptop and access all the shared files. When i go into my network places on my laptop i could only see the desktop computer, i can't access it at all.. I get an error message of Network Path not found. My router is set for DHCP so the ip address are in the same range (192.168.1.46 for the laptop, and 192.168.1.47 for the desktop) the subnet mask are also the same. I have tried disabling the firewall and rebooting the system. I tried using the same protocol (TCP/IP) nothing seems to want to allow the laptop to talk to the Desktop. When i tried to ping the desktop from the laptop i received request timed out..... Please if anyone has any information help me Thanks Last edited by matklinger05; 06-21-2006 at 11:37 AM. |
