Networking advice needed
Hi,
I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to networking so I need some advice. I have 2 computers, computer A and computer B. I have one internet connection (AOL - no jokes), it is located in room A. Computer A is in room A and computer B is in room B. There is a hole between room A and room B where a wire can go through to link to the internet connection. currently the internet is connected to computer A in room A, next to the internet connection. what equipment do I need and what else do i have to do to have the internet connected to both computers? The two computers don't have to be linked to each other, if that helps. thanks Last edited by BARNETFAN1 : 01-13-2006 at 10:33 AM. |

You are going to need to get a network cable to plug into the lan port on the back of machine B (room B). You are also going to need a network hub. You can pick up a cheap one for about $20-$30. The instructions that are located with the hub will take you from there. So really all you need is a netwrking hub to wire the two computers to the internet.

Actually, you'll need to do some special things since you're using AOL if it's broadband. ICS doesn't work with AOL, however. the AnalogX Proxy will work with AOL broadband.
Of course, you could be using dial-up, so perhaps you should tell us more about what you have.
