First post so I hope I've put this in the right place and given enough information:
I have an HP Pavillion DV9700 Laptop and it's currently running the Windows 7 release candidate. For a while now my wireless card ('Broadcom 4321AG 802.11/a/b/g Draft-n Wi-Fi adapter') has been malfunctioning. Sometimes everything works fine but other times, especially if I haven't used it in a while, an error appears in the device manager and I cannot even look for wireless networks let alone connect. If it is working it tends to be only for a couple of hours before it stops. When it does stop working this can usually be fixed by repeatedly switching the wireless switch on the front of the laptop, or by rebooting it completely. Also sometimes when I do manage to get the wi-fi adapter working it still cannot pick up any networks but this is always solved by rebooting. Also, if this is any help, when the error appears in the device manager this often (but not always) coincides with similar errors in the 'bluetooth device' and this can also be fixed in the same way. The drivers are up to date. I have repeatedly re-installed the drivers to be sure and even though new drivers have been released twice recently these updates did nothing. Also the problem occurs when connecting to any router or wireless network not just my home one, so I don't think it is an issue with compatibility between the two. Thanks in advance for any help. Fin. |

Re: Semi-functioning Broadcom Wi-fi adapter.
Thanks very much for your response. It didn't directly help as my laptop model was not covered. However it did lead to a me finally managing to update my BOIS which seems to have fixed it but we will see how things go from here. Thank you again. Fin.

Re: Semi-functioning Broadcom Wi-fi adapter.
Okay, this hasn't fixed the problem. I've done some more research on the internet and found one source that said the only way to fix the problem is to replace the motherboard. Does anyone have any other ideas?
