Grin My computer doesn't believe in the internet

I have having some issues with my wireless network adapter. I have tried to research this problem on my own for some time now but I have decided to give this forum a shot, as it was highly referenced to me.

I am using an older Dell(specific model escapes me as I am at work now) and one day, without any trauma that I am aware of, it stopped recognizing any wireless networks where there are multiple. The wireless pretends that it is working but there are not any signals in range, but I know its a dirty liar.

From the research, I am done online many people seem to think the driver is the problem but I am not saavy enough to figure that out myself.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are you SURE the wireless switch is turned on? It's either a switch or a function key sequence, depending on the exact model.

Re: My computer doesn't believe in the internet

hi waxx....or you may try uninstalling/updating your wireless card driver from the Device Manager. You may actually do this=? rt click My Computer=> Properties => Hardware tab=> Device Manager, find Ethernet Adapter and expand it, in your Wireless ethernet card adapter see if there's a Yellow ! you may right click on it and choose update driver or uninstall driver. Normally your windows will do plug n play but it is safe to have your NIC wireless driver ready. Reboot your machine and see if you can find your wireless network. Pls. let me know. Rd

Re: My computer doesn't believe in the internet

make sure Wireless Zero Configuration Service is enabled. To do this go to control panel, Administrative tools, Services. Then look for Wireless Zero Configuration. This should be set to start Automatically. If it is not you need to make it start automatically.

Reboot your machine and after a few seconds you should see a bubble popup in the task bar saying "Wireless Networks Detected"

See if this works.
