Re: Nvidia Networking Controller shows Connected but will not receive packets.

I know this is an old thread but we have had a faily similar problem with an MSI laptop with an Nvidia chipset. The network was working but we couldn't get the laptop to connect to it. Pinging was useless etc. All other PC's and laptops were fine.

Now the following resolved the problem but I don't understand why and to be honest I'm not worried as long as it stays resolved.

Navigate to the Properties of the Local Area Connection using right hand click on the connection icon on the Windows Taskbar and selecting Status. Under Local Area Connection Properties select the General tab and the Configure button next to the box showing your network adapter.

In the next window select Advanced.

Against the Network Address (on ours) there is a field allowing a value to be input or left as Not Present.

On another PC with the same problem earlier this had an I.P. address of
169.254.13.2 . We have a Netgear Modem/Router whch uses the range from 192.168.0.1 . We entered the 169.254.13.2 I.P. into this field, select Apply.

The network connection immediately reconnected and IE + Email + Anti Virus updates came alive as did the printer and connection to a file server.

We then went on to the Nvidia website using the laptop and using their automated driver utility updated the chipset/ethernet drivers from 2006 to 2007.

We then went back to the Networking Controller and removed the 169.254.13.2 I.P. address, leaving this field as "Not Present". We then clicked on Apply. The connection icon immediately showed as acquiring an I.P. address which this time worked normally. The I.P. address was now back in the Netgear range and being allocated by the router.

Somebody with more knowledge than me can explain why this worked but it did and is still working. Turning off firewalls etc made no difference at all and was a blind alley.

Re: Nvidia Networking Controller shows Connected but will not receive packets.

Even though it appears you're having the same problem, please start a new thread when you have a new issue. It's very difficult to keep two problems straight and who's working on what in a single thread.

I've created a new thread for your issue here.

Note: You will need to post complete details of your configuration and your specific issue in this new thread for us to help you.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Re: Nvidia Networking Controller shows Connected but will not receive packets.

I'm sorry but i am now completely confused. When you say that you have created a new thread "here". Where is "here". I was actually trying to help the last guy in the old thread rather than ask a question. I don't know where this will go.
