Wireless problems ONLY in Vista[MOVED]
I'm having an odd problem with my wireless card, or not odd considering its vista....
For some reason my connection is intermittent and won't always connect when I boot my laptop. It fails at a variety of places most generally aquiring DNS address, or the gateway IP, so says the built-in diagnostic tool that came with my laptop. I have tried the windows "auto-fixer" with no success. At first I thought it might be a driver problem, but I actually have two wireless cards, one is USB, and the other internal, and neither will connect consistently. Also I have a live CD of Backtrack that I am using that has absolutely NO problem connecting, ever... period. My USB wireless card is the only one with a supported driver that I have gotten working but it always works... So: Its not a driver problem (2 cards, 2 drivers same problem) Its not a router problem (The connection works in linux) My deduction is that its a problem with Vista, and its networking interface. Any suggestions on things to try to get it to work more consistently? |

Re: Wireless problems ONLY in Vista
Sadly, no luck, its still hanging on aquiring gateway IP, and Linux is breezing along beautifully... I don't understand what the problem could be...... Other than that windows is a POS.

Re: Wireless problems ONLY in Vista
Supply the following information please.
OS running on all affected systems Make & models of all equipment (routers, network cards, modems). Wired or wireless? What wireless encryption is in use? (WPA, WPA2, WEP, None) Browsers being used (Firefox, IE, Safari, Opera,...) What security software is installed? (Firewalls, AV, Spyware, Malware,...) Open up a command prompt (Start > run > cmd) Type the following bolded commands and post the results for each affected machine. ipconfig /all Note: To post results of commands, alternate click on the top of the command prompt > edit > select all > alternate click on the top of the command prompt > edit > copy > paste in a message here. If you are on a computer that can't connect to the internet then paste the contents in a text document and save it to a portable media like a flash drive, then use an internet capable machine to post the contents.
