Wired LAN question.

Hey Guys.

I bought two Linksy's Network cards as they where on sale for 10 bucks each. Great bargain. These are PCI and Wired. Came with Cables also.
I put one card into my Linux workstation and the other into my main PC which runs both Linux and Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP1. used the Cable to connect the two machines and now wondering if that is how to use network cards?.
Never networked before and it did show on the box, that you could connect computers with these cards?.
I do not have a router and only have the internet cable plugged into my vista machine. Will this make the net available to the other machine? Or am I just able to share files and such?.

Trying to set up the network at the moment, just a bit confused, to what exactly I can do.

Thanks.

Re: Wired LAN question.

You need to connect the two machines with a cross over cable.

Also you need to setup ICS on the Vista machine
