Network Cable Unplugged
I just installed a Dynex DX-E102 PCI card and for some reason it isn't working. Driver looks to be installed correctly as Device Manager shows not indication that it was installed incorrectly. I plugged in my cable but the card doesn't seem to turn on.
Any help? |

Re: Network Cable Unplugged
Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.
Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider). Make and exact model of the broadband modem. Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit). Make and exact model and hardware version of any other network equipment, like a repeater, a booster, hi-gain antenna, etc. Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device. Connection type, wired or wireless. If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2) Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP (Home or Pro), SP1-SP2-SP3, Vista (Home, Business, Ultimate), etc. The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc. Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.
On any affected computer, I'd also like to see this: Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt: Type the following commands on separate lines, following each one with the Enter key: PING 206.190.60.37 PING yahoo.com NBTSTAT -n IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: Network Cable Unplugged
I am at work but will provide the exact info when I get home. I don't think its an ISP, modem, or router issue. I only say that because all the other PC's in my home work fine via wired/wireless.
On this particular desktop (a little old), in the network connections window, the PCI card shows up but says "unplugged" even though the cable from the modem to the desktop is plugged in. ALso I noticed the PCI slot in my desktop is a little different then the tabs on the PCI card but it fits perfectly. Not sure if that makes a difference. Here is the PCI Card: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1177112858465 Last edited by Baldie559; 06-10-2009 at 09:05 AM. |

Re: Network Cable Unplugged
I would look on the back of the NIC to see if you have any link lights. And i would switch the cable.

Re: Network Cable Unplugged
Thats the issue I'm having.....the link lights do not even come on. I've tried 2 different cables and none work. These cables work fine with other machines.

Re: Network Cable Unplugged
Could be the card is bad, have you tried another one, or better yet does it work in another computer? Other things you can do is switch the slot it is plugged into and switch the port on that the cable is plugged into on the router/switch whatever is on the other side.
