Slow BC 57xx gigabit on Vista 64bit
Hey all,
I have a frustrating problem at my work with the Broadcom Netxtreme 57xx gigabit network adapters. Basically copying a 350mb file from our HP server will take around 11 or 12 mins on the Vista 64bit machines using the Netxtreme 57xx gigabit onboard network adapter. Funny thing I have noticed is that it takes only 2mins for the same file on a Vista 32bit machine with the same Broadcom Netxtreme 57xx onboard network adapter. I have tried the latest drivers for the NIC on the 64bit machines but it makes no diff. Interesting thing on the Vista 32bit machine NIC driver settings is they have an option to manually set 1000mb full duplex whereas the 64bit drivers only show 100mb full duplex. I looked on the broadcom site and it says they don't have a 1000mb full duplex option for th 64bit NIC driver as u need autoneg set for that. Why then do they have that option for the Vista 32bit NIC driver version and why does it work properly on that but not the 64 bit NIC driver? Any ideas, its driving me bonkers! Cheers, JP |

Re: Slow BC 57xx gigabit on Vista 64bit
Well, it sure sounds like driver issues, don't know what to recommend.
Have you considered buying a gigabit adapter and testing to see if using different hardware resolves the issue in the 64 bit machines. One gigabit adapter should be a pretty cheap test.
