connect 2 PCs[moved from xp]

Hi,

I connect two laptops together using a cross over cable, assign them IP address, allow both to have remote users connecting, ping laptop B from laptop A,... all fine... but... where do I find laptop A when in Windows Explorer on laptop B (and vice-versa)????
thanks in advance

Re: connect 2 PCs

You have to assign them IP's on the same mask, it is good to have them on the same workgroup as well. Depending on you operating system the folder sharing is different, but in WinXP you can simply share a folder and have it accessible on the other end. If the computers are configured on the same workgroup you should be able to see the other computer and it's shares from My Network Places. Alternately, you can access the folder by typing \\computername\sharename

Re: connect 2 PCs

They both belong the "MSHOME" workgroup (My Computer>Properties>Computer Name), but I can't see any "MSHOME" in My Network Places...

Re: connect 2 PCs

dammit! On one of the laptop (work), it was on a domain and I changed it to a workgroup to which I gave a name. It then asks me username and pwd; which I gave. When I restarted, I got prompted for username and pwd, I enter the same I used to change from "domain" to "workgroup" (the only one I know), and I can't log in!!!!
Help please!
I tried in safe mode, same thing, I can't log in.
Help!!!
