Recording video from my PC to my DVD
I want to record video captured on my 3-year old laptop (IBM T60 with XP Professional) into my DVD recorder. I have USB output on my laptop, and RCA input in the back of my DVD.
I know there is a USB-to-RCA cable available somewhere (can't find it now), but I guess there must also be some software to go with it.... ....Where can I find such a product? Thanks! |

Re: Recording video from my PC to my DVD
Actually, you'll have much better luck with a VGA -> Composite adapter, many laptops ship with such an adapter.

Re: Recording video from my PC to my DVD
My laptop is about 3 years old, and I bought it used, so no adaptors are in the box.
From what I remember, there is a USB to RCA cable, but I can't find it any more. I can guess it's sold with some software..... As much as I remember (this was 4-5 months ago), it was sold for about $25-$30. But I tried Googling it again, and for some reason can't find it.... |

Re: Recording video from my PC to my DVD
You need to use the exact make/model of the laptop and find the specifications. If it had a VGA -> Composite adapter, you can purchased one pretty cheaply. If the VGA output is not compatible with such an adapter, the solution will be more expensive.

Re: Recording video from my PC to my DVD
Thanks for your help, John.
We're watching some foreign TV programs via Internet, thru my laptop. I'm already using the VGA port to connect my PC to my 37" Toshiba LCD HDTV (thru its PC port).... I thought the TV would have an output from which I can run a cable to the DVD recorder, but it has only input ports. That's why I think my only solution, wishing to record some of those TV programs, is to run a cable from the USB port on my laptop, to an RCA input port on the back of my DVD (this is an old, one of the first on the market, Panasonic combo VCR/DVD recorder).... Re: Recording video from my PC to my DVD
Well, a USB to video adapter is a possibility.

Re: Recording video from my PC to my DVD
Thanks, John...
....The question is, which way is the information going? I want it to go from the laptop into my DVD recorder..... Not the other way.... ...haven't have the time to investigate it too deep, but here are 2 other links that I found: http://www.shopxtreme.com/product_in...oducts_id=1516 And even more intriguing: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...7BBTkwCjCECjCE |

Re: Recording video from my PC to my DVD
There's one on the page, I forgot to drill down and point to the actual link: http://cooldrives.stores.yahoo.net/usb20svadfor.html
That one at Tiger should do it as well, it's just less portable.
