[SOLVED] AcerApireOne drops wireless if LAN connected
I have an Acer Aspire One running XP with the standard Atheros AR5007EG wireless card and Realtek RTL8102 fam PCI LAN card. I use the Wirelsss to connect to the internet but as soon as I connect the LAN the internet connection is lost. The wireless connection remains connect as does the ADSL modem. Unplug the LAN line and instantly the internet connection is back on! I have updated both card drivers and turned off powersave modes on both cards.
I have even used an external USB wireless connection and it does the same! I cannot see how the LAN can influence the Wireless card? ANy suggestions to fix this? |

Re: AcerApireOne drops wireless if LAN connected
The reason for this is you have two network interfaces with default gateways specified. Windows will prefer the wired connection and that's were all the external network requests will be routed.
Manually configure the wired connection and leave the Default Gateway and DNS Server blank, then the wireless will still be used for the external connections. The wired connection will still function for local file/print sharing.
