Slow connection speed/ DoS attack from WoW World of Warcraft 3. Netgear WNB2100

My connection slows down considerably when my housemate starts playing World of Warcraft. My internet speed is usually around 9MB/s but slows down to around 0.4MB/s. His slows down slightly (around 5MB/s), but never as low as mine. He uses Garena (Global Arena) to play Warcraft 3 I believe.

I’ve also noticed a number of Dos Attacks (Denial of Service attacks) on my router log when he starts playing/ when my connection slows down:

[DoS Attack: ACK Scan] from source: 216.221.10.220, port 80, Wednesday, May 13,2009 16:44:21
[DoS Attack: ACK Scan] from source: 94.76.220.222, port 80, Wednesday, May 13,2009 16:26:08
[DoS Attack: ACK Scan] from source: 192.221.115.126, port 80, Wednesday, May 13,2009 16:25:39
[[DoS Attack: ACK Scan] from source: 201.210.191.89, port 46044, Wednesday, May 13,2009 15:56:47

Using http://cqcounter.com/whois/ I found out that:

216.221.10.220 is “DIGITAL RAZOR”
94.76.220.222 is Blueconnex
192.221.115.126 is "Level 3 Communications"
201.210.191.89 is “CANTV Servicios”

I think these are game servers of some sort?

We are using a modem and a wireless router (Netgear WNB2100) My housemate is connected wirelessly and I am connected by an ethernet cable (although I can connect wirelessly too). I’ve tried connecting directly to my modem and my connection is fine. This problem occurs on both my laptop and my PC and only when he starts playing, so it isn’t a problem with one of my systems.

I don’t play online games and the problem isn’t bittorrent or other p2p software.

Any suggestions? any help will be much appreciated!
What exactly is a DoS attack? How do you stop DoS attacks? Why is World of Warcraft affecting my connection?
