Belkin N wireless express card adapter not being recognized by XP
I recently purchased the Belkin f5d8073 N wireless expresscard adapter, because my laptop's internal wireless card was acting up (i.e. not working).
I installed the driver from the disc (making sure the card was not plugged in until prompted), restarted my computer, and of course XP doesn't recognize the card. I then hardwired myself to my router, via ethernet cable, and downloaded a driver from the belkin site, again, the card was out, and then i restarted my computer. When it came on it flashed a message saying something like "found new hardware: network controller" then some other message came up saying that it found my card. It worked perfectly until I turned the computer off then on again the next day..same problem as the first, no detection. I tried installing and reinstalling about every driver on the belkin site for this card. In the bios the internal network adapter is off (as suggested in another thread i read somewhere). Then again it worked while I was hardwired, but I've tried many different ways, and decided that hardwiring doesn't somehow trigger its "Hey I should work now" trigger. So now I'm about banging my head of the wall trying to get this thing to work. My Computer is an HP Compaq presario 6100 (i think) My OS is XP SP2 My modem is a westell c90-610015-05 (piece of crap, I know, but its working for now. My router is a linksys wrt54g and again my external card is a Belkin f5d8073 N wireless expresscard adapter Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: Belkin N wireless express card adapter not being recognized by XP
I was afraid that would be the answer.
But is there anything I could do that might help, in the mean time? And what would you recommend that would also be cost effective? |
