Router/Modem and Wireless question

I've been using wireless for awhile but I've started gaming alot and my wireless connection isn't the best for it so I'm planning on running a wire through my house and connect my modem(preferably my router) to my computer for a more fluent gaming connection.

My question is, are there any specific brands which are best or is any genetic brand okay, I'll need a long ethernet cable about 10m, anything else I need for it when its that length? can anyone also point me to a website which sells them? price isn't much of a concern as long as it works great.

I've never had problems with any generic CAT5 cable, and that short of a run most anything will do it fine.
