Re: new to wireless please help.
I'd go for the PCI card in a heartbeat. USB is frequently problematic with networking, as there is a lot more potential for conflicts with other USB drivers in the system.

Re: new to wireless please help.
Thanks.
Can you please reccomend good ones as there are far to many and I do not know where to start. Also: Firewalls. My current wlan router http://http://www.arrisi.com/product...dem_TM602B.pdf has one built in but i have no idea how good it is. This was thrown in from my internet provider. I presume I should have a firewall at my access point and one as software on my pc. Is this correct? What can I do to be as secure as possible? Please help. |

Re: new to wireless please help.
Make sure that your wlan has encryption turned on - preferrably WPA2 or AES minimum - with a strong pre-shared key. Between your NATing and the built-in firewall you shouldn't need any other firewall (unless you don't trust something within your own network, e.g. a friend's laptop that he brought over).

Re: new to wireless please help.
You can check the manufacturer's website for updated firmware. And as long as you aren't having issues with your current router i would just keep it.
