Wireless connection problem

Recently my hard drive crashed on my Dell Inspiron 1000. I replaced the Hard drive and the XP. Since then have not been able to connect my wireless. Have an Actiontec router thru Verizon and a Westell PC card. Have spent many hours with Verizon tech and they gave up. I have continued to work on it. I can connect unsecured and also can connect with ethernet cable. Can make a good connection to internet. I contacted Actiontec support and got one suggestion of turning off firewall and followed all their instructions but it didn't work and have heard nothing further from them. Hope you can help.

Re: Wireless connection problem

You need to update the wireless drivers, and also make sure that you have SP2 or later loaded.

Re: Wireless connection problem

Thanks for the reply. I do have the SP2 installed as well as a patch I found was recommended.
I am not an expert at this. Could you tell me how to update the wireless. I thought the Verizon techs did that at the 192.168.1.1 site.
Thanks!

Re: Wireless connection problem

You need to use the Service Tag # from the Dell machine and visit the Dell support site and download the latest drivers.
