I posted in network general support last night no response please help me I am at my wits end and I don't know what else to try Ive done just about everything in troubleshooting and still cant seem to get anywhere let me start by saying that I have two computers both running windows xp pro svpk 3 I have hooked them together with a crossover cable and that was quite an experience in itself figuring out why it kept saying my cable was unplugged but that problem was solved. On the computer in the livingroom I have a linksys fast ethernet pci card which I have the crossover cable connected to and I have a linksys dual channel wireless n usb adapter that connects to the internet via linksys wireless n ultra range booster router which is connected to dsl in our office next door. The distance is why we decided to go wireless n. Originally the computer in my bedroom was using the usb adapter to get the internet but the signal was too weak and only connecting at 13.5 mbps, it took forever. the pc in the living room connects at about 262 mbps so that was what made me decide to network the 2 pcs together. So anyway, the pc in my bedroom is connected to the other end of the crossover cable to a realtek pci lan card. After connecting the 2 pc's together I first ran the network wizard on the livingroom computer and said that it would connect directly to the internet and all other pc's would go thru it, I confirmed that it would use the wireless adapter to connect to the internet, gave it a unique name, enabled file and printer sharing and then finished it restarted the computer. After that i went to work on my bedroom pc and i started network wizard, said that it would connect to the internet thru another computer or router, picked a unique name, made sure that the workgroup name was the same as other pc, enabled file and printer sharing, and then finished and that pc restarted. I went into livingroom to open up network places, to look for bedroom p/c and it was not there, the only thing listed was the computer i was on actually it said it was the shared file from that pc i tried to open up subdirectories nothing, i tried to open up pcs in same workgroup it found nothing then I tried to go onto the internet and i was unable to get any connection, Frustrated I then went into the bedroom to check the status of that computer and when I opened network places I found the same situation no other p/c listed that that pc's shared file folder and unable to find anything listed in any subdirectories. I then checked network connections and it found the lan connection and said everything was normal, living room found the linksys lan card, the wireless card, and intermittently it found a "internet connection" that was disabled and was not capable of being enabled. I found it odd that it would show up on the host computer since from the description it gave it sounded like it was the connection that bedroom ("client") pc used to connect to internet via host pc. In anycase that never happened and it kept disappearing. This is when I began troubleshooter hell, I tried everything and to no avail, I tried to go to each pc and run the command prompt to ping the other computer and neither pc was able to succeed - 100% failure each way. I also typed in ipconfig and this is the shortened version: Livingroom (Host) computer assigned IP address of 192.168.0.1 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 on the lan card, and on the wireless card IP add. :192.168.1.100 subnet mask also 255.255.255.0. The bedroom (client) pc was using the IP add. : 192.168.0.96 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and gateway was 192.168.0.1. On all computers tcp/ip was enabled , were set to automatically detect settings, and dhcp was enabled. Yet I was no longer able to access the internet from wireless card, was unable to connect to nor even to find any network. when I ran the diagnostic on the wireless it said the signal was strong and that it was connected yet when I ran the diagnostic in the troubleshooter it said that it failed, Also the diagnostic tests showed each connection as if there were three of each there was also something about a loopback connection, I wish i would have saved it. If wanted I will have to hook crossover cable back up, but if I do that Im afraid it will disconnect me from the internet, because I wasnt able to get any connection until I disconnected crossover cable and then when I did it hooked me right up... So there you have it I am really stuck I don't know how to go any farther and I would really appreciate some help I will do whatever I need to if you want me to get screenshots of diagnostics will do if you tell me how to do it PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Re: unable to find networked computers in network places please help me!
If you'd state the issue succinctly, it would be much easier to figure out what the actual issue is. No way I'm going to attempt to parse that amorphous blob of text to ferret out the issue.
