Wireless connection disapears ?

NETGEAR WPN111 usb adapter rangemax (Driver vers:1.5.0.137.)
NETGEAR WPN 824v2 rangemax wireless router (Firmware vers: V2.0.26_1.2.17)....most upto date versions on adapter & router.
Toshiba Equium M40X Laptop-XP sp2 Home edition
WPA/PSK(TKIP) Security

My problem started with the BSOD, I have since uninstalled the driver for the wireless adapter, disabled WZC.
I have also reset router to factory settings and then Installed upto date driver for adapter, goes through set up fine and connects, Smart wizard wireless assistant shows ip address, channel 6 locked and excellent signal.

But after a minute or so it goes red and loses all signal, then it scans channels but misses 6, occasionally it will go green again but shows ip address of 0.0.0.0
and only one green circle on signal bar !!!!

The SSID and WPA are exactly the same as whats set in my router.
In the router i have wireless mode set to default which is AUTO 108mbps

I cant see what the problem is as my XBOX 360 picks up the router no problem.
Any help much appreciated

PS. After the above procedure i also updated the router firmware and powered off correctly but everything is the same...PLEASE HELP

Re: Wireless connection disapears ?

This sounds like a problem with either the adapter hardware or the drivers. Either you have corruption or the adapter is dying would be my first inclination.

I'm assuming you've scanned for malware, and other machines work properly on the same router?

Re: Wireless connection disapears ?

Scanned for malware, nothing found !
XBOX 360 wireless connected to router !

Three days ago I hard reset the router (Button held for 1 min. 20secs power on 20 secs off and last 20secs on)
Turned everything off for the night, next morning I turned everything on and thought id just try the wpn111 adapter....it worked, dont know how because i had uninstalled drivers.
So 2 days and no problems, now yesterday web pages were timing out or taking ages to get to the right page using Firefox3 and also connection kept dropping then reconnecting.
Today I have no connection, Windows should automatically connect me and I can see the network in range with 100% signal...the damn thing will just not connect....I am entering the correct WPA key, oh and my wife used her work laptop at home this morning which she never does and it connected from upstairs, but she did say the connection dropped a couple of times..
Yet an hour later im sat 2 feet away from router and cant connect !!!

Re: Wireless connection disapears ?

Still sounds like hardware issues to me.
