Wireless Adapter Problem !

Wireless adapter - Netgear WPN 111 rangemax (Driver vers:1.5.0.137)
Router-Netgear WPN824v2 rangemax
(Hardware vers:V2H1,Firmware:V2.0.26_1.2.17)
Locked on channel 6 ,mode :AUTO 108mbps,Wireless Security WPA-PSK(TKIP)

Cable Modem-Webstar EPC 2100R2
Windows XP sp2 Home edition
Built in Wireless-Intel Pro 2200BG

Hope ive included enough info for resolving my problem....
After using the WPN111 adapter for over a year without any real problems and having fairly good connection speeds suddenly about a month ago i got a blue screen with "DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL" and it also mentioned the wpn111 driver.
To cut a very long story a bit shorter Ive basically uninstalled and installed updated driver.....still couldn't connect, (WPN 111 could see router in range with excellent signal, but would not connect)

Ok so i reset my router to factory settings then started again configuring only the security option to WPA and changing SSID and left everything else as default.
Now tried configuring adapter, seemed ok had same SSID and correct WPA key found signal and connected, great, sorted.....for about a minute then signal went at the same time noticing the Netgear wireless assistant searching through channels but CH 6 not showing ??????? how is this when in the router it is set to channel 6 which i have heard is the only channel i can use with Rangemax G MIMO or something along them lines..and ip address of 0.0.0.0
Anyway back to my ever increasing novel !!

I then configured the adapter using Microsoft and the same thing happened
aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
what the hell is going on WHAT IS THE PROBLEM is it my adapter, laptop router or friggin modem cos now my Xbox 360 wont connect.

Anyhoos searched online (with ethernet cable...no probs) and found a suggestion about the downstream freq in the modem so i noted what i had then changed it from 339000000HZ to 331000000HZ
This seemed to work at first but at this point im ready to burn the lot so any little change was good..... all the time im doing these things i AM doing the powering off thingy with the modem etc....

still no connection with xbox, then someone suggested setting DNS servers to manual in router settings and entering PRIM:4.2.2.2, SEC:4.2.2.1
OK did this and it YES the xbox was back on live.

So thats one prob sorted so im thinking can't be router or modem cos im getting internet through the ethernet and the xbox is connecting so it must be the WPN 111
So i decided to try the built in Intel wireless which ive never tried in 3 years after configuring abit and entering in all relevant passwords im connected...its a bit slower at 54mbps but its connected, problems sorted right ?
Wrong ! now it does still connect but it quite often goes down to 1mbps so i stuck the WPN111 back in(after switching the other off) and it worked
noticed on the wireless assistant it had full green signal locked to ch 6 and had ip address straight away !!!!! superb
That lasted one day now it will connect but every few minutes it says aquiring network address.
I really need some help on this, sorry if my warbling doesnt make much sense,
because of my problems i am only just learning about this stuff.

oh and i changed the DNS servers back to auto and the xbox is still working ?
