WEP network authentication on compaq presario

Hi,

I have Compaq Presario V5000 series P/N EZ429UA#ABA. This is equipped with inbuilt Broadcom wireless adaptor. I could not see WEP network authentication when I was trying to connect to my linksys WKPC54G router. Only WPA, WPA-PSK,open, shared are displyed in the drop down menu. Is there any way that I can install WEP authentication with my Broadcom wireless? please let me know. I need to connect to my linksys wireless router WKPC54G using WEP authentication.

Re: WEP network authentication on compaq presario

Is the Linksys router configured for WEP? Sounds like the router has WPA enabled, which is why the workstation can't use WEP.

yes the router is WPA configured but my question is to check if we can download any drivers to enable WPA for the gigafast wireless WF741-UIC adapter which has been connected to my desktop or viceversa like laptop with WEP authentication which is now limited to WPA. This adapter only has WEP authentication only but where are my laptop has only WPA wireless authentication. I can only broadcast WEP or WPA from my routher. Hence, I could not connect my both of my systems simultaneously. Hence I wanted to check if there any possibility to get the WPA drivers for gigafast WF741-UIC adapter or WEP drivers for my laptop which has Broadcom wireless.

I can't believe the machine that handles WPA doesn't handle WEP as well, that would be a first in my experience.
