Conflict with an IP address within the network!

My friend and I are using a wireless connection through a hotel. She is using a Toshiba Tecra and every time she tries to get connected it shows this error message "Conflict with an IP address within the network". Now every time she turns on her wireless it actually knocks my computer off the network.

Please excuse my crude way of asking, I'm still learning about computers and this is my first time on a forum like this. If someone could help me out and tell me what's going on and how to rectify the situation it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!
