Reconfigured Computer not recognising network hardware

Due to a virus I recently had to completely reinstall Windows XP. I previously was connected to my home network through cabling.

However, now when I try to set up my connection back to the home network it will not recognise any hardware (Control Panel -> Network Connections --> Set up Home or small office network).

What should I do so that I can get this reconnected?

Re: Reconfigured Computer not recognising network hardware

Most likely you'll have to install the proper drivers. You need to install the chipset and network drivers at least. What's the exact make/model of the computer or motherboard?

Re: Reconfigured Computer not recognising network hardware

It's a Dell Dimension Pentium 4 Processor, and it is a D-Link wireless router, however I'm using the wired ports.

Re: Reconfigured Computer not recognising network hardware

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc

Please respond to all the following steps.
  1. Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed.
  2. Are there any devices under Network adapters that have a red x displayed?
  3. Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?
