Problems connecting to internet with wireless adapter...

I have an IBM Thinkpad T22 in which I run XP and have a Belkin Netgear Wireless G USB adapter to connect to the internet with.

My laptop had some problems, so I had to re-format and landed up losing everything :(

The problem is, I can connect to my required server but "acquring network adress" always comes up then a yellow warning sign saying "limited or no connectivity" comes up afterwards.

I have rang up Belkin's helpline, but no such luck there, even tampered with the settings a but on the wireless router (also Belkin).

The downstairs PC which has the router attached is running Vista. Could that be a cause and what shall I do?

The Vista machine has nothing to do with your issue. Have you tried a wired connection to this machine?



Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc

Please respond to all the following steps.

1. Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed.
2. Are there any devices under Network adapters that have a red x displayed?
3. Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?

Let's see this as well.

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
