Internal Wireless card issue.
I am currently working on an IBM Thinkpad T42 laptop right now for a customer (I'm a Staples EasyTech). He was having all sorts of issues with his laptop until I loaded a new version of Windows XP and started fresh. I was able to get most of the drivers downloaded and installed, except for one. In device manager, it shows one item not working and it shows up as a "ethernet controller" which I'm guessing is the wireless. No matter which driver I went with on IBM's website, none of them fix the problem. What am I missing?

Re: Internal Wireless card issue.
In device manager it should show the manufacturer (my machine has an ancient Intel Pro/1000 CT) and the driver can likely be found at the Intel website.
Ethernet controller, btw, is not wireless. It's for the cable connection between the modem or router, and the back of the machine. |

Re: Internal Wireless card issue.
There was two "ethernet controller" identified. One was fixed with the installation of one of the drivers that was provided on windows update. The other, is somehow unfixable.

Re: Internal Wireless card issue.
I took the laptop appart to see what type of wifi card it is. Oddly enough, it's made by Philips. I can't find any drivers at all for it. Philips doesn't have anything about networking products on thier website.

Re: Internal Wireless card issue.
I suggest looking on the manufacturer's website. The IBM line has been purchased by Lenovo, so I'd start at their site: http://www.lenovo.com/us/en/

Re: Internal Wireless card issue.
Download Everest at: http://www.lavalys.com/products/down...?ps=UE&lang=en. This software will read the hardware on the laptop and give the make and model of every device even without drivers installed. This should help you on your driver hunt.
