[SOLVED] need help with router

i recently had comcast phone service installed which comes with a modem. the model name is (arris-tm402p/110) im trying to use my Dlink router (DI-524) but i can't get it to work, i plug the internet from the comcast modem
into the Dlink router where it says "wan" and i plug the ethernet cables connected to the router to my pc's and i get no internet.. im kinda dumb when it comes to these things. are there any settings i need to configure on my pc's before i plug the router in or something else im doing wrong?

Re: need help with router

Is your Comcast Modem also a router? If so you will need to disable the routing function in the Dlink, Or if it isn't and both devices have an IP address that are the same I.E. 192.168.0.1 set the Dlink IP address to 192.168.1.1

Re: need help with router

Unhook the cable that runs between the router and the modem
With your computer connected to the router by a cable. open your browser (Internet Explorer)
In your browser type in 192.168.0.1 press enter
When prompted The Login Name is "admin" leave the password blank hit enter
You should then see the screen like the link I gave you press the LAN button
In the IP Address field Type 192.168.1.1 click on apply. wait a minute, exit the browser, turn off the router. reconnect the modem to the router turn on the router, reboot the computer.
