1 gb

what cables do i have to terminated for 1 gb speed.
i tried 1,2,3,6 but the speed is 100mbwith cat6 or cat5e. when i use a patch cord straight to the switch i get the speed of 1 gb but with cables terminated like i said the speed is 100mb. so what are the minimum wires i need for this speed.

For gigabit ethernet, you need cat 6 cables.

CAT5e is the minimum for 1GB 'rated' speed. I say rated because that's what it is, though TRUE GB is dfficult to meet on the CAT5e standard, and therefore CAT6 is recommended as peterhuang913 suggests.

I have to agree. CAT5e is fully capable of supporting gigabit speeds, and does so for several 100' runs here on my network. CAT6 is obviously preferred for new wiring, since it's not that much more expensive, but it's not necessary to realize gigabit connectivity.
