CAN'T LAN With my wireless card?

I just purchesed a D-Link DWL-G510 wireless desktop adaptor for my HP pavilion A220A and i am able to connect to internet using this but i am not able to see any LAN games from computers that connect to my switch (it is wireless and has ethernet ports) i am able to see them when i plug my ethernet cord into my computer.

What Gives?

Please help and i hope this is not a dumb question.

Is your D-Link DWL-G510 a REV A or REV B model (see barcode sticker on the card)? Are you running Windows XP SP2?

If you have a REV A card, download:

ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Wireless/dwlg510...driver_100.zip

If you have a REV B card, download:

ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Wireless/dwlg510...driver_211.zip

Unzip the file and run the setup or install program included. Reboot and see if this fixes your problem.

Hey thanks for the reply i am runnig windows XP service pack two and i can't find where it says about REV a and REV B.

There's a sticker somewhere on that card - it has a barcode on it - it's either a REV A or a REV B. The driver you download and install depends on WHICH rev of the card you own. You may need to open up your PC and physically look at the card.

Ok i see on the box it say technology B so i assume it a REV b so i am downling REV b driver will tell you if it works shortly.

Hey i tryed the drivers no luck it did not fix the problem. Any other ideas?

If you can connect to the Internet using the wireless connection, it would seem the drivers are working. How about posting this.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands, one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

NBTSTAT -n

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Well, you have a good Internet connection, you can ping an Internet site by name and IP address.

This appears to be more of a browser issue if you can't browse with that configuration.

What exactly happens if you try to use the wireless with a game? It's going to be slower, so you're bound to see more lag...

Which game are you trying to see? Some of them require that NETBIOS be installed, which it generally is not by default with Wireless cards.
