just like to say hello to u all and a thank you in advance to anyone who reads or replys to my thread
![]() pc stats - home built pc with -windows xp pro version 2002 sp2 amd athlon 64 prossesor 3000+ 1.8ghz, 2.00 gb ram nividia geforce 6600gt 802.11g wireless LAN pci card ( safecomswlpt-54125 ) asus dual satta 939 mobo internet isp - cytanet 1mb broadband connection modem - speedtouch 585 v6 router - netgear 108mbs wireless firewall router WGT624 v3 hardware versio - V3H1 firmware version - V2.0.16_1.0.1 encryption - any wpa ie - mozzila firefox newest version connected to the modem i have my ps3 hardwired into it, router i have a wireless laptop and usualy a stand alone pc hardwired into it but its broke at mo so i have nothing connected directly to it i have not had any problems with any of my pc's untill im trying to connect a pc up stairs by wifi, the problem that i have is that i can see the router and type in the key it will try to connect but it will keep trying to aquiring network address and then loose con then gain it try to gain network address then loose it again and again till i get fed up and stop it if i go on to the lappy and go into the router it rekognises that its attached to router but i dont know whot to do to make it work as normaly i can connect any wifi pc to it by just typng in the key there is excellent signal up stairs and no interferance i have naw brought it down stairs and its the same, if i got it plugd in to the router it works fine but i cant repair it justv stops on renewing ip its been like that naw for about 2hrs, i have done ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew, nothing happans. i have also added the mac adresses to the router, i thinking that there is an isue with ip settings or the network card but i have changed that and its exactly the same and it was the same model aswell just to take hat out of the equation, thanks for reading this essay lol if u need mor einfo just ask and ill sort it for u and thanks again for taking the time to read my problem

Have you tried disabling ALL encryption and MAC filtering on the router to see if you can connect with that configuration?

How far do you get? What are the exact symptoms? Do you get to search for wireless networks? Can you see the network you're trying to connect to?

i can find the router on wireless connection and connect to it i can type in the pass key then thats it itl try and aquire network address an while its trying to do that it will loose wifi then come back and try aquiring network again it will do this over and over till i stop it ive left it doing that all nigh with no joy, i have tryd repair and it will get to renewing ip and stay like that untill it brings up the error meassage saying cant repair contact ure network admin, hope this helps anything else u need to know? cheers

Have you tried connecting with a wired connection? See if that works on the computer that doesn't connect wirelessly.

yup that works great no problems whot so ever i have just tryed resetting router and deleted the old wireless card driver and get windows to use card just to stop any conflicts with software and that still doesnt seem to connect eithr but whot is happaning naw is it will find the network evrytime but wont connect at all error message unable to connect to wireless network comes up when i try to repair just to say cheers for ure help

Some things you can try here.
Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues. Are you sure ALL encryption, MAC filtering, etc., are disabled? Another thing, go into the router's wireless configuration and disable all the non-standard "turbo" modes, leave plain 802.11g only.

i have now installd sp3 and have updated the system and put a static ip on wireless and ethernet i can naw connect wireless when i connect the ether cable in for a secound but the internet gateway keeps dissapering naw so i cant connect to internet or router but my wireless is saying its connected to my network i have tryd repairing but no joy any idea whot i can do naw ??
