[SOLVED] D-Link USB wireless card problems
I have a D-Link wireless USB adapter DWL-G122 revA2 I have been having some problems with. It seems that I can either use this wireless card or my other USB ports. When the D-Link card is plugged in, the D-Link works, but none of my other USB devices work. When I unplug the D-Link card, magically everything works.
Any advice on this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Re: D-Link USB wireless card problems
Classic issue with USB networking devices. This is likely driver issues, have you tried different drivers (older or newer) for the device?
Personally, I'd just bite the bullet and get a PCI wireless card...

Re: D-Link USB wireless card problems
I have only been able to find one driver. Same one on CD and online.
I would love to buy a PCI wireless card, but I'm using a Dell Optiplex SX260: no PCI, no PCMCIA. Only USB. |

Re: D-Link USB wireless card problems
I guess it's time for a different brand of USB card. What does D-Link support say?

Re: D-Link USB wireless card problems
OK. I feel like a dummy, but I fixed it. A couple weeks ago, my internet connection was down, and I was trying to get a neighbors signal which was just barely out of reach. So I found a USB cable extender to see if I could move card around a little more to get the signal. It worked, but that was the cause for this problem. In my last attempt at unplugging and uninstalling devices, I realized that the extender cable was still plugged in. I removed the extender cable and Voila! Issue resolved.
I kinda feel annoyed that the problem was this simple, but at least everything works now. Thanks for your help. |
