external antenna to wireless card
I have a ZyAir B-122 wireless card for my laptop. I was wondering if there was a way to add an external antenna to it to use for war driving and to test how far i can access my home network in my car. I live close to my college campus and would like to be able to reach my network from there. If anyone knows how to attach an external antenna that would be greatly appreciated.

Re: external antenna to wireless card
Buy a PCMCIA card with external antenna provisions, it will be difficult to attach one to one without them.
Can it be done? For most cards the answer is probably yes. OTOH, you'll need to buy the connector, and have the tools and skills to connect it to the very small components on the PCB, assuming you get the card apart without destroying it.

this is the internals of the card. Sorry its a fuzzy picture I had to take it with my cell phone. I think that tiny gold thing is a connector for an antenna but it seems extremely small. Last edited by cotir2005 : 04-08-2008 at 06:13 AM. |

Re: external antenna to wireless card
I have no idea from that picture. I can only say that it's possible...
