Drops connection
NIC card is part of Intel MB:
I have had the problem since I had the computer, over a year. Need to reboot the computer every morning or after it's been inactive, but on for several hours; Realtek fast ethernet 8139/810x ---10/100 looses connection to server. Just did driver update from 2-25-08, version 5.687.225.2008. MFG installed new processor and MB. XPPRO SP 2, all current updates; Office Scan 8.0 on server and workstations with current pattern files; Spybot all current; Other 2 computers have no issues; SBS 2003, not R2 yet. Also have a d-link NIC, 530tx and had the same problem, still in computer, but uninstalled. |

Re: Drops connection
When the computer is connected properly, then again when the computer disconnects, let's see this.
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: Type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: Drops connection
When the connection is lost, let's see this:
Try these simple tests. Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands one at a time, followed by the Enter key: IPCONFIG PING <computer_IP_address> PING <default_gateway_address> PING 216.109.112.135 PING yahoo.com Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. <computer_IP_address> - The IP Address of your computer, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above. <default_gateway_address> - The IP address of the Default Gateway, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: Drops connection
Well, you still have internet connectivity, so I'm guessing this is some malware affecting your Internet browsers.
What Internet browser and what version are you running?

Re: Drops connection
Try to Reset Internet Explorer 7 Settings, see if that changes things.
