Lagging badly on online games

Hi, Im having problems with my router. Im using a Linksys wireless-G 2.4Ghz (speedbooster), Im also using cable. Right now when Im gaming online on everything its lagging alot. On TF2 Im having 600-999 ping for some reason. It didnt happened before for the first 4 months. Either with wired or wireless it still lags when gaming. With downloading and web surfing its works but still lags. There is 3 PC using the router but all of them are lagging like mine and no one is downloading. I tried port forwarding but nothing seems to helps. I guessing its my router's problem. So can anyone help me with this?

I tested my internet speed and its 3.04Mbps and senting 40,000 - reciving 60,000 packets.

Re: Lagging badly on online games

Have you tried connecting one machine directly to the modem to see if it's the router or the modem and/or ISP?

Hi,

In addition to what johnwill told you, you can also power cycle the router or reset it and re-configure your network once again.

Re: Lagging badly on online games

Actually I tried everything already wired or wireless with my PC. Its all the same speed for both. The last thing I want to do is to pay someone to fix this simple issue. How do you power cycle? I never heard of that term before.

Before all of this happened my wireless usb connector started to not detect my router. Not even any of my other equipment seems to find it. After I tried to fix it the lagging happens, so Im pretty sure its my router's problem.

Re: Lagging badly on online games

You should try a full network reboot. First, shut everything down thats connected to the router. Second, unplug the router. Third, unplug the modem from its power source, wait 2 minutes, plug the modem back in. Let it boot up completely. Usually 30seconds to 2 minutes. Next, plug the router back into its power source. Let it boot up completely. Then turn on all the devices connected to the router.
