Abit AirPace Wi-Fi Card help please!

Abit AirPace Wi-Fi Card 54MbpsPci-Exp 1x - i plugged teh wifi card to 16x slot since i got no 1x slot on my computer, the guide indicates it should still work, well when i plugged it in to 16x slot tech pc wont power on, when i took out the card pc powers on. wired, i like to sue this card, paid 40$ for it. thank you. i have other card on other 16x slot that i have on motherboard, like my video card and tv tuner card, they are fine.

any help, thank you

Are you sure it was aligned correctly in the slot? It appears that it could be off a bit and short a bunch of pins when plugged into the 16x slot. Check the alignment again.

I also only see a "sideways" reference to compatibility with the 16x slot...

do i plug in the circle part too as show in this bigger image. i didn't plug that part before. i only plunged in the two golden parts and didn't work, my pc won't power on, i tried twice with no luck.

Well, they just say stay away from the 16x slot or you'll slow it down. I suspect your video would run at a snail's pace if you use the 16x for this card.

The part you plug in is determined by the rear apron alignment of the mounting bracket, it would be impossible to get it into the slot wrong and have the bracket screwed down.

ok,thank you, i guess the circle golden part is not suppose to go in teh slot but it guides you to angle it perfect, will try it again, TY

No pictures, but if it doesn't work in that slot, it may not be compatible with either the 16x slot, or perhaps it's fighting with the PCI-X video board.
