Wireless Network cutout with D-Link cable router
Yesterday I set up a wireless network with a Virgin Media bb connection via a D-Link router (DIR-301). There is a cabled connection going to 1 laptop (Vista Basic) and a wireless connection to another lappie (Vista Home Premium).
Manged to set it up after about an hour and a half, then suddenly last night, the wireless connection cut out. It still wont re-connect this morning. It was set up using D-link's own online wizard (naviagate to 192.168.0.1 and there is a wizard). The network is a WPA2-Personal security type, with a TKIP encryption and set to connect automatically. The router is working ok via a cabled connection, but despite having the wireless laptop right next to the router its not working properly. I'm also concerned as if it wont work next to the laptop, the chances are it wont work anywhere else in the house. HELP!!! |

Re: Wireless Network cutout with D-Link cable router
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:
Type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: Wireless Network cutout with D-Link cable router
Have you tested the machine with a wired connection? How about disabling all encryption on the router and trying to connect that way?

Re: Wireless Network cutout with D-Link cable router
It does work with a cabled connection.
How do i set up the wireless network without the security - i was using the routers wizard last time. It gets me that I didnt do anything to affect the operation of the network - i was just using my web browser - when it stopped working |

Re: Wireless Network cutout with D-Link cable router
Perhaps just resetting the router and reconfiguring will get it working again. I'd also consider upgrading the firmware on the router to the latest available, which sometimes solves issues with them.
