home network, multiple internets, remote desktops, help needed!
I have 4x ipaq PCs running XP pro. Each has 1x ethernet card and several usb. Each has its own different internet connection coming in via a usb.
I want control each of the ipaqs via remote desktop. My problem is that I can't get the ipaq to communicate with both the internet and eg a router at the same time. It seems like it only wants to use one network connection at a time. I've played with the 'metric' but this just swaps which connection is working. Up to now i've been plugging the ipaqs into the ports on my router which was set up for accessing the internet. I should have a simple 8port switch arriving soon if that helps. I read somewhere that using a different protocol for the internal networking would solve the problem. How difficult is that? and will remote desktop work over a different protocol? Oh yes, I don't understand DHCP or indeed most networking stuff! thanks for any help Last edited by jimbowley : 02-07-2008 at 04:42 PM. |
