Desperately Need Some Help - Please Read
Hello,
I'm really hoping someone can help me. I've been round and round with this and I'm feeling more and more like jumping off the roof. The computer is an HP Media Center m7183c. It's running Windows XP and has 1GB of ram. I have just re-installed Windows XP. After doing so, I tried to get on the Internet. No go. So I checked the Device Manager and noticed that quite a few of the items (including Ethernet Controller) needed drivers. So I went to the HP website's driver download section for this computer. On that page they have every possible driver except a networking driver. Whatever. So I googled it and came up with nothing. Am I going crazy? No one has ever needed an ethernet driver for this PC? So I posted to another area on this forum (drivers). Someone was nice enough to look up the actual mobo specs (linked to the same HP page I was looking at) and provide the link for the driver). It's an Intel 82562gt. So I went to the Intel site and located the driver for their 82562gt. I downloaded it to my thumb drive, then transfered it onto the desktop of the problem pc and tried to run it. Nope. I get this message: Cannot install driver(s). No Intel(R) PRO adapters are present in this computer. Huh? So I re-traced my steps and sure enough, everything checks out. Is there something I'm missing here? The device manager doesn't give me any information about the ethernet controller (make, model), so I can't go looking for it. But HP's specs do give me the information, but the computer is saying "nope - you're wrong". I REALLY NEED SOME HELP. I've been dealing with this for days now, and I feel like I'm losing my mind. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me... |

Look on the original disks, perhaps there was a driver in a folder for that NIC. Other than that, I'd contact HP and ask them where you get the drivers, I see they're indeed not on the page for that machine.
I did a search and found this: http://www.drivershq.com/Drivers/XPD...3/Drivers.aspx Here's a driver pack from HP for that Intel NIC: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...reg_R1002_USEN
