PC Lags out when Wireless connection drops
I have a Belkin Wireless G Card 5000 and am connected to a Linksys network thingie. I lose my connection a lot, but thats not what bothers me, seeing as how i only check myspace and such on this computer. When the connection drops, my computer either Freezes up completely, or lags out beyond anything being conventionably usable. How can i stop the computer from lagging out whenever the connection is dropped!

Re: PC Lags out when Wireless connection drops
Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.
Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider). Make and exact model of the broadband modem. Make and exact model of the router. Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device. Connection type, wired or wireless. If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2) Make and model of your computer. Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP1-SP2, Vista, etc. Also, please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages. On any problem computer, I'd also like to see this: Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: Type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Once the wireless connection drops, the computer lags out beyond use or locks up completely, mouse and all. I notice it happens more often if someone accesses material on you-tube by streaming things. I can't be any more descriptive than that i suppose. Ask me about anything else you need. |

Re: PC Lags out when Wireless connection drops
Well, since it's associated with the wireless network, does the same issue occur if you connect the machine to the router with a wired connection?
I'd download and install the latest drivers from Belkin for the card.

Re: PC Lags out when Wireless connection drops
Well, if the wired connection works properly and doesn't cause an issue when you aren't connected, I have to believe it's the wireless drivers or hardware.
